Nature is his Kingdom

Canadian photographer Patrick Di Fruscia has really touched me with his work. This is a must see site if you want a little peace and tranquility in your life.

His devotion to the art has made him in no time amongst the top new talents in the photography world today. His creations are way beyond documentary records. Being both emotional and carefully crafted artistically, they aim to create a feeling of inner peace and, an awareness of the true beauty that lies everywhere around us.

The Worst Places of the World

Sprol is a planetary sightseeing blog. Visit some of the worst places in the world via satellite imagery. Their mission is to use space imaging to show people the visual macroscopic effects of our decisions and behavior.
Can you guess the location of the picture below?

Rent a German

Sometimes Germans are hard to come by. In case you are looking for one, here is your chance.

Third World Water Filter

A handful of clay, yesterday’s coffee grounds and some cow manure: the ingredients that could bring clean, safe drinking water to much of the third world.
What happens if it breaks? Manure and filter just don't mix in my mind.

Pencil Carvings

Imagine the time and precision in these carvings. Very cool.

I got ripped Off

A friend tells me about this great keyboard, so I ordered it sight unseen. Only one problem, it is missing something.

Blogger Code

Geeks have one. So do hairy gay men and their admirers. Isn't it time bloggers have a code to describe themselves as well?
(OK, so maybe not, but we charge forward nonetheless).

Magnetic Finger

Guy gets a magnet implanted into his finger. Why you ask, he says he is now "able to perceive magnetic fields tha has expanded his conscious perception of magnetic fields in the wild".
FYI, a picture on the website of the actual implant may be a little upsetting to some of you.

The Largest Diamond

This story is over a year old but I have not read it before. I am waiting for the next James Bond type movie to be about this.
The galaxy's largest diamond is 10 billion trillion trillion carat monster that has a cost that's literally astronomical!
"You would need a jeweler's loupe the size of the Sun to grade this diamond!" says astronomer Travis Metcalfe (Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics), who leads a team of researchers that discovered the giant gem. "Bill Gates and Donald Trump together couldn't begin to afford it."

Pet Health Care

I never knew health care for pets was available. I wonder if they have a plan for non-smoking animals too?
Pet insurance can help you afford the very best wellness care for your cat or dog, as well as be prepared for the unexpected emergency visit. Plans can take care of your pet's needs from accident and illness only to complete wellness care such as annual checkups, vaccinations, and flea and heartworm preventative medication.

Kwame in more Trouble

Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick doesn't want you to know about some things:
The spa visits.
The hotel room for his family babysitter.
The posh suite at the Luxor casino he and his family shared in Las Vegas.
The $850 steakhouse dinner.
The $836 charged to the city's credit card for his sister's stay in New Orleans.
The $3,837 he spent on chauffeured sedans over four days.
The $11,644 he dropped on Super Bowl hotel rooms.
read on...

In case you missed the first problem with Kwame, this may refresh your memory.

Ride on the Water

To look at the Pump-a-bike, you’d swear it would sink the moment it hit the water. Not so, indeed, with a bit of practice, the human powered hydrofoil is capable of nearly 20 miles per hour – not that much shy of the world record for human powered watercraft .

Manhole Cover Art

Manhole cover design varies greatly from city to city, with each municipality balancing budget versus art. Some cities, such as Seattle, opted for a clever street map design on their covers, others went with city logos or seals. Most, though, choose a simple grid pattern, or checkered design.
