Frame Works Guitars

Now that is a funky looking guitar!
The Frame Guitar represents the successful synthesis of traditional craftsmanship and modern technology. The radical design, reduced to the essential components, has been leading to exceptional tonal capabilities, which provide the ideal prerequisite for outstanding electro-acoustic performance. The Frame Guitar makes a difference. It's probably today's finest and best sounding electro-acoustic guitar.

Odd Musical Instruments

OddMusic is for anyone interested in unique, unusual, ethnic, or experimental music and instruments. So whether you play stalagmites in a cave, the kaval, bow telegraph wires across the Nullarbor Plain, twist electrons by circuit bending, call whales on a Waterphone, or just love listening, this site is for you.
Showcasing the sounds, music, and instruments of artists and artisans from around the globe. From gourd music to electronic odysseys, harp guitars to industrial insect metal, from the beautiful to the bizarre.
Pictured below is the Beer Bottle Organ which you can listen to here (will open WMP audio).

Flashing Women

FlashGoddess promotes and showcases women who work with Macromedia Flash.
In the gallery I found numerous, talented women and was very impressed with the work of Carla Diana's virtual instruments. Check out her fantastic work and all of the other featured artists.

Bad Drawings from Memory

Bad Toon Rising is a collection of drawings of well-known cartoon characters produced by amateur artists entirely from memory and without any reference materials whatsoever. We can all picture what Mickey Mouse or the Pink Panther look like in our minds, but getting that image down on paper is another matter.
The picture below is supposed to be Bugs Bunny.

Handwriting Lessons

My handwriting has gone straight to hell! I cannot remember the last time I actually sat down and wrote a letter to someone. Email and Microsoft Word have ruined me.
I can't take it any more, I am taking handwriting lessons.

Web of Letters

Google Blogoscoped created the Web of Letters using Yahoo API and its image search capabilities.
I am quite satisfied with the result.

Scented Bowling Ball

My how times have change. What happened to the good old Black Beauty bowling ball?
The new bowling balls are now described like this: The only ball that features our ACCU-Tread pearl particle coverstock with RAD3 technology, the Ace is a high flaring pearl particle ball with a strong preferred spin axis that will give you impressive mid-lane roll without sacrificing the sharp backend move.
Plus, the Ace has different fragrances attached to it!
When did all this happen?

Vacuum Coffee Brewing

Vacuum brewing was a predominant infusion method early in the century, before paper coffee filters became widely popular. It takes a bit longer, but once you have tried it a couple times the process is fast and simple. And your incentive to use these devices will be clear: coffee with pronounced body and no sediment; very clean and crisp; a cup where flavors are dramatic and heightened in every respect.
I never heard of this method before and understand it makes a "weaker" cup of coffee. Not for me, I prefer a much stronger type of coffee, preferably from a french press.

Real Shaving

Unless otherwise motivated, it is very unlikely that you will cut yourself with a straight razor any worse than you already have with a regular razor. Remember its just a big scraper and in essence any razor's job is just that, to scrape hair off your face with minimal irritation.

Hoax Busters

Interspersed among the junk mail and spam that fills our Internet e-mail boxes are dire warnings about devastating new viruses, Trojans that eat the heart out of your system, and malicious software that can steal the computer right off your desk.
Is it a hoax or not!

Insurance Claim Excuses

A list of outrageous excuses:
  • I found that my window was actually up when I put my head through it
  • Couldn't find a non-country radio station
  • Banana peel on freeway caused me to lose control over my car
  • I glanced at my mother-in-law, then drove over the embankment

Jeff's Bike Trip

Jeff took a five month, 7000-kilometer, mostly-solo bike trip from Tierra del Fuego to the Caribbean. He cycled through Argentina, Chile, Bolivia, Brazil, and Venezuela and had loads of fun crossing steppes, jungles, deserts, mountain ranges, and savannas.
Check out his detailed map and his fantastic photos.

Balance Ball Chair

BalanceBall Chair greatly alleviates the aching back/legs/arms syndrome that come from working at a desk for hours.
It employs the same BalanceBall used in your workout routine, an adjustable support bar, easy-glide casters, an air pump and a desktop guide to get you moving.

What they used to Say

What our ancestors said and what we say today.
THEY SAID: Are you on the rack?
WE SAY: You are grouchy, are you on your period or something.
THEY SAID: Choked chicken and no water hot!
WE SAY: Hope you can quit coughing before you die!
THEY SAID: Bummed as a fiddlestick!
WE SAY: Really bored!

Song Facts

Song Facts is a great reference site to get the history of a song. One of my favorite tunes of all time is Layla by Eric Clapton and if you do not know the history of the song, here it is:
This is about George Harrison's wife, Patti. She and Clapton began living together in 1974 and married in 1979. Clapton and Harrison remained good friends, with George playing at their wedding along with Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr. Clapton left her for actress Lori Del Santo (with whom he had his son, Conor) in 1985.

The Fly Catcher

The Fly Catcher is an electronic fly-swatting device based on the idea of the Venus fly trap. The Fly Catcher is not just a talking point, it actually does the job.
A non-toxic bait based at the bottom of the jaws lures the insect inside. As the insect crawls into the mouth of the trap, two sensors detect the insect causing the mouth to shut, swatting the insect dead.

Spot the fake Smile

Now you can take a really cool test to spot a fake or real smile. I was only able to correctly choose 11 out of 20.
Most people are surprisingly bad at spotting fake smiles. One possible explanation for this is that it may be easier for people to get along if they don't always know what others are really feeling.
Although fake smiles often look very similar to genuine smiles, they are actually slightly different, because they are brought about by different muscles, which are controlled by different parts of the brain.

Last week I posted a topic about the difference between an American and British smile.
I just wish more people would smile more in everyday life, it sure brightens up the day.

Bad Photos

We have all seen great photgraphy work will browsing the web; but now we can view just bad photos. Believe me, they are bad!

Mouse Massage

Tiny Massage Mouse uses traditional Chinese methods to soothe sore muscles and relieve stress--big time! Simply stick the small, thin pads anywhere on your body (stiff neck, tight shoulders, sore lower back, over-exercised thighs or calves), and you'll feel an amazingly lifelike massage that's better than real fingers!

Graffiti Creator

Create your own graffiti. You can get much more creative than I did, make sure you bring your spray paint with you.
