Snuff

Do people still use snuff? I remember my grandfather using it daily and my father carried on the tradition whenever he had a cold.
Apart from murder, and Copenhagen snuff, snuff is any powder prepared for sniffing. Of course, the main use of the term is for powdered tobacco.
Tobacco snuff is made by selecting tobacco leaf (and also sometimes tobacco stalk, as in e.g. Irish High Dry Toast) and disintegrating it into a coarse powder. It is next ground in a manual or mechanical mill, and then sieved. Various essential oils may then be added for flavouring, after which it is stored in airtight containers to allow the flavour to permeate uniformly.

Johnny Carson R.I.P.

Johnny Carson, 79, died Sunday morning while resting comfortably. His family was by his side when he passed. No other details were released.
Carson was the king of late night TV for years and will be missed. Be in peace, Johnny (will open WMP audio)!!!
I read an article about Johnny a few days ago that stated Carson was occasionally supplying Letterman with some jokes, I just wish Johnny would have appeared on TV one more time before passing.
I have located a few links featuring Carson at his best: Interviewing Stephanie Zimbalist (will open RP-video), Nebraksa Broadcasters Hall of Fame (will open WMP-video) and the infamous Ed Ames video can be found here (Johnny's website, so may be slow loading), a must see clip.
